A Graduate Engineer on the leadership development scheme at Spiral Sarco. My first placement was at Biopure Technology in Portsmouth.

I developed a standardised process for completing the tasks on the assembly line by creating parts lists and set stations for each task. I designed and modelled stillages in Solidworks to store the required components by each station. This improved the efficiency of the line because the employees didn’t have to walk as far to find components. I designed a rotary welding jig, on Solidworks, for the Titan muck spreader line to improve production speed and reduce the associated risk to the welders.

Worked as a device technologist at GSK as part of a 6 month placement in the third year of my Innovative Manufacturing Engineering Masters course. I managed a project controlling the introduction of collar components from a new tool. I scheduled resource, good communication, and thorough risk analysis. I developed my communication skills by working with French and Spanish suppliers. I organised and lead project meetings with a multidisciplinary team, lead discussions and delegated tasks. I communicated design proposals to company directors to get permission to run line trials, requested a component drawing change and proposed a change to the way new components would be accepted onto site; all of which were approved before I finished my placement. I documented my findings and gave a presentation to influential members of the company and my university

I spent my summer working in the design department of Teagle Machinery Ltd. I edited technical component drawings, in solidworks3D .for those on the workshop floor. I redesigned a welding JIG for a hopper and I designed a workbench for the company van out of stainless steel.
