After working as a passenger assistant with children with complex needs, I enrolled with the Open University on a BA Education Studies degree when my son was just 7 months old. After my first year I got my foot in the door by gaining a TA position at a wonderful school. I worked for 4 years as a TA in KS2 and was fortunate enough that I was allowed to try out lots of crazy ideas like shooting, directing and editing Y6 productions, hosting a Race for Life, fundraising for a defibrillator and shooting a music video which won us a video from CBeebies’ Andy and the Band!After graduating with a 1st Class Honours, I enrolled to complete my PGCE with the Arthur Terry Learning Partnership on a salaried SCITT. I trained primarily at the school I had worked as a TA at and spent 6 weeks at a wonderful small school in Curdworth. After completing my PGCE, I managed to secure a role as an ECT in Y5 at William MacGregor Primary School which I am thoroughly enjoying!6 years of parenting, working full time and studying by night for my degree and I’m finally in my dream career!
