The continuous process of self-discovery, life, has shown me that without my internal fire of, Perseverance, Purpose, and Passion: I would not be who I am today. I was once an adolescent who relished in my doubts and fears due to not understanding that I was given life and abilities to fuel an altruistic breath into the world. Early on these fears hindered me from joining organizations like the National Beta Club and The Clayton County Youth Commission. Despite this, throughout high school, I persevered to rebirth myself into a woman for the people by joining leadership organizations and becoming an active member within my community. I stand today here as the former Vice President of my high school’s National Beta Club Chapter, a 2023-2024 Clayton County Youth Commissioner, and more. As I immersed myself in these organizations, I discovered the beauty of creating an empathetic impact through selfless acts of community service and civics. I had found my divine purpose: to be a beacon of hope and positivity in a world that may not always treat us fairly or justly. With this introspective view, I went on to host a voter registration where I registered 23 Forest Park High School students to vote and recruited 83 poll workers in correspondence with Clayton County’s Office of Youth Services and their Office of Elections and Registration. Ultimately, being civically engaged has fueled my passion for futuristically utilizing my abilities within the intersections of political science, public policy, and public health. My specialties include research, digital crafting of multimedia presentations with software like Canva, public speaking, and facilitating sponsored events with non-profit organizations. Notably, I curated a research paper about the voluntary demobilization of the African American family dynamic caused by increased mass incarceration promoted through “The War on Drugs” campaign. I love learning about how systematic policies and governmental agencies can affect the complex nature of a society. Thus, as a prospective Political Science major, I will continue my journey as a Posse Scholar at the College of Wooster. My internal fire and education will galvanize me to challenge, progress, and navigate how legislative policies and their implementation can affect diverse communities. My purpose necessitates me to be the change the world needs!
