CurrentWorking in the newly established BigScience center.Making advanced material characterization at synchrotron x-ray and neutron facilities available to industry. At synchrotron x-ray and neutron facilities, advanced techniques for materials characterization have been developed for over 50 years. Many of these techniques are therefore well established and can be powerfull tools to help solve industrial problems.Setting up and further develop a service providing non-destructive residual stress measurements using lab x-ray (and when necessary) synchrotron x-ray and/or neutron diffraction based techniques. Residual stresses inevitably arise during production, manufacturing or during operation of all metallic components and across industrial sectors. The presence of uncontrolled residual stresses affect the materials mechanical performance and lifetime and can, ultimately, result in premature failure of the component.
