I was studying cell signaling pathways and the biology of specific receptors in podocytes from human and mouse kidney in Lisa Buvall's group at the Kidney Center. The study is in collaboration with the American company Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals.

I was responsible of building up Dr Börgeson's laboratory at Wallenberglab situated at the Sahlgrenska University Hospital. The main research focus in the Börgeson lab is lipoxins and their role in obesity-related pathophysiology.

My work at Oncorena and GU involved the development of a renal cancer drug based on the mushroom toxin Orellanine. I studied the mechanism of action of the drug using a CRISPR/cas9 Library as well as studying the response of the drug on primary renal clear cell cancer cells from human patients. I was working in Peter Mundel's group studying cell signaling pathways in podocytes. As a trained organic chemist I now learned number of new techniques, such as RT-PCR, handling of cells (podocytes and HEK), Molecular cloning, Western blotting and Confocal Microscopy. My research involved the development and synthesis of small tetra peptides as SARS protease inhibitors. I learnt a great deal about peptide chemistry but also about proteomics, proteases and virus.My work also involved the mentoring of Ph.D. and masters students and I received project leading skills.My work included presenting at conferences and meetings, to write scientific publications and reports, but also to proof read and review articles for publication.

I was synthesising small heterocycles and further evaluated these as antitumor agents. The work involved planning, performing and documenting my project independently, as well as writing scientific papers and posters.
