As a Data Scientist, I have a passion for our planet and a deep commitment to environmental conservation and social responsibility. I am on a journey to apply my skills and experience to make a real difference in serious issues like deforestation and food fraud. I believe that these are significant challenges that require urgent attention and action, and I am personally invested in contributing to finding solutions to these problems.Over the course of my 20-year career, I have developed expertise in System Architecture, Business Intelligence, and Data Science, with a particular focus on data analysis and cyber security. I have also taught machine learning and cyber security part-time at TAFE, and for the past four years, I have been working on developing neural network models for analytical chemistry. My skill set includes a combination of database management, artificial intelligence, and cyber security expertise that I can bring to bear on these important issues. In my role as a CIO and Data Scientist at InterpreData, I provide strategic direction and design software to improve the productivity of analytical laboratories and connect them to agricultural supply chains. I have also worked as a bioinformatician at the University of Adelaide, where I develop software for DNA identification and forensics. As a member of the Advanced DNA Identification and Forensics Facility (ADIFF) team, I specialize in bioinformatics, and I have developed the Linux-based Python programmed components of TraceBase, a tool used for identifying timber species. Additionally, I have collaborated on various research projects in environmental chemistry, plant genetics, and metabolomics.I am convinced that my skills and experience in data science and related fields can be applied to address the challenges of deforestation and food fraud. I am motivated to use my expertise to make a tangible and positive impact and to be part of a larger effort to create a more sustainable and just world.

Chief Information OfficerInterpredata Sep 2013 - PresentMiddleton Beach, Western Australia, AuI am a CIO and Data Scientist at InterpreData where I provide strategic direction and design software to improve the productivity of analytical laboratories and connect them to agricultural supply chains. Additionally, I work as a bioinformatician at the University of Adelaide, where I develop software for DNA identification and forensics. I also spent three years working with Dr. John Watling at the University of Western Australia to design and co-developed the automated quality control methods for analytical chemistry labs and apply machine learning models to classify elemental data produced by ICP-MS instruments. This technology was successfully tested in the "TraceBase to Enhance Physi-Trace" project with Australian Pork Limited and our "TraceBase DNA for Timber" software is currently undergoing patent protection.I am currently involved in two research collaborations:Plant Genetics with Dr Arif Malik, postdoctoral researcher and lab manager at the Advanced DNA Identification and Forensics Facility (ADIFF) at the School of Biology for the automation of demultiplexing, sequencing and genotyping short read sequences for the purpose of plant species identification | 2020 – Current.Metabolomics with Dr Frankie Busetti, Applications Specialist for Biochemistry at ThermoFisher Scientific and Analytical Scientist at InterpreData to create biochemical profiles for the classification of plants and animals in an AI environment | 2021 - Current. -
