About Hannah Smith
I'm Director of Operations for Green Web Foundation, a non-profit with a clear mission: to see a fossil free internet by 2030.We're a non-profit organisation working at the forefront of new approaches to surface the environmental impact of software and hosting, and associated injustices, through building open source tools. We also help to show the world different narratives for the internet: ones that involve just and sustainable futures. With hands on technical experience (BSc in Computer Science, freelance developer for 7 years and coding instructor), and a deep knowledge of the world of digital sustainability, I bring a rare ability to marry deeply technical know-how with a practical approach to getting things done in the real world with pace and long-lasting impact. I also believe strongly in open source, collaborative and inclusive communities. In 2020 I founded the Green Tech South West meetup to bring together an emerging community of green-minded people to showcase and discuss diverse approaches to using tech to tackle climate change. I also co-organised the Bristol WordPress group 2016 -2019, and co-organised the WordCamp Bristol 2019 conference. If you are looking to learn more about digital sustainability or need a female speaker with some technical chops for an event, why not drop me a line and see how I can help you?
