I took op this challenge. After the initial growth spurt, one of the founders left the company. The other founder stopped working due to health-related issues. In addition to marketing and sales, I took over the day to day operation of the company. The company grew from one small shop to 4 shops, 3 franchise shops, and 50 employees and freelancers. After the remaining founder recovered, I sold him my shares, just short of the target. -

This group of people became the internet and visualization department of HBB Communicates, operating under the Spacecowboyz name. Spacecowboyz were a very innovative group of people. One of the innovations was to use a game engine to render animations in the browser. We used this to produce live action and animation video online and on CD. The technology was also used in the online colour selector for Volkswagen cars. In 2004 the Spacecowboyz activities were incorporated into HBB Communicates as internet technology became a mainstream activity.

Change ManagerTulip Computers International Apr 1986 - Apr 1989Den BoschTulip Computers was a fast-growing, privately owned, company that designed and manufactured PCs. I started as employee number 86. My job description; Independently identify the obstacles to the growth of the company and remove these obstacles. Tulip offered a professional, high-pressure working environment. I was responsible for developing, budgeting and managing eleven big organization building projects in ICT, production, cooperation, logistics, legal structure, and facilities. The people I worked with had several things in common; They were always much older, were much more important in the organization, had different points of view and often they had different interests. I learned that being able to come up with smart solutions was less important than gaining support for implementing those ideas. The results of my projects were very much dependent on my ability to develop and maintain a productive connection with the people who were important for the project. My solution to deliver was to develop smart solutions packaged in a project format. Get CEO backing and use the backing to develop a conversation with the people responsible in order to build a team. Then introduce the project to the new team members. I always delivered the defined results on budget and on time. One of these projects lead to winning the national logistics prize for Tulip Computers. -
