Hans Oerlemans is one of the founders of OKRA , one of the leading Dutch design offices in urban and regional planning, landscape architecture and urban design. The office works on international projects in a wide range of countries, among The Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, China, Vietnam, United Arab Emirates.He graduated in 1991 at the Agricultural University in Wageningen as a regional planner / landscape architect, with specialties in urban planning and urban design, taken at the Technical University in Delft. After graduating he worked for the Municipality of Haarlemmermeer. As one of the four founders of OKRA landscape architects, he works on a broad spectrum of design assignments. These vary from abstract plans and long-term visions for the development of landscapes and urban environments to detailed designs for spaces and architectural objects. The emphasis within this package is on visions, zoning plans and green projects. Some of these are: 'Afrikaanderplein', a park in Rotterdam awarded with the national prize for best public space 2003-2005, 'Nieuwveense Landen', a masterplan for 700 ha. new city development in Meppel, and 'New Wood Living', a renewing concept for housing in forests.In 2000 he spent six months collaborating with Peter Walker Partners - USA , where he worked on projects in the USA, New Zealand and Europe. This exchange was rewarded with a subsidy by the Stimuleringsfonds voor de Beeldende Kunst, Vormgeving en Architectuur (foundation for higharts, design and architecture).
