In September 2015 I retired at the age of 65 from my part time job as Secretary of the PLATEFORME des associations d'aînées de Genève cf. http://www.plateformeaines.ch, but continue my committement for empowerment for better aging in a whole range of associations for and by the elderly, namely FAAG - Fondation pour la formation des aînées et des aînées de Genève and Promotion santé Suisse : indeed the elderly and their associations represent a fantastic resource which has to be fostered and valued.A major focus of my work is on ageing in place, i.e. to create advice, support and lobbying for consideration, design, equipment (including gerontechnologies), and services to provide the opportunity and ability for the elderly to remain in the home of their choice as long as possible, even when frail and dependent. This means adapting living environments in advance, using Universal Design to preserve independence, creating ergonomic care environments, overcoming isolation and providing a set of alternative housing opportunites ("structure intermédiaires") between ordinary housing and medicalised homes, see http://www.plateformeaines.ch/pages/view/commissions/habitat-seniors
