EU fellowship: Structure and mechanisms of tungsten and molybdenum containing proteins. Very little was known about the roles of tungsten and molybdenum in biology. I solved one of the first tungsten enzymes and proposed a reaction mechanism to explain its function. Also helped teaching x-ray crystallography.
