After obtaining his M.D. degree at the University of Basel in 1966, Hans Stalder specialized in Internal Medicine (La Chaux-de-Fonds and Geneva) and Infectious Diseases (Harvard Medical School), became chief of the Internal Medicine Service of the Cantonal (teaching) Hospital in Liestal, Switzerland, in 1978 and was elected chief of the outpatient clinic of Internal Medicine (Policlinique de Médecine) in 1986 and head of the Department of Community Medicine Department of the Geneva University Hospital (1995). He was nominated associated professor of Medicine at the University of Basel Medical School and full Professor in Geneva. Since the early nineties he was strongly involved in the planning and realization of the pre-diploma curriculum reform process at the Geneva Medical School and the post-graduate medical education in Internal and General Medicine in Switzerland. He supervised and actively participated in the Family Medicine Implementation Project in Bosnia-Herzegovina and was consulting as a medical expert in the Health SWAP Project of Medical Education (Manas-Taalimi) in Kyrgyzstan.
