Lelystad

With Tyax Channel, property valuations and real estate reports become available to the end user quickly and effectively. The end users typically are property managers and landlords. In the Netherlands Heimstaden, a large estate owner is one of its users. In the real estate industry, Tyax is used as a low-code development tool. Actoren Enterprise Integration System is the worthy successor of the succesful Tyax platform.

In order to build the student tracking system for the TU in Delft, I needed a good team of programmers. Back then, in 1995, I couldn’t find suitable programmers in the Netherlands who could properly realize my technical design. However, in Saint Petersburg on the Baltic Sea I found what I was looking for. For two years, this group of programmers was guided by me from the Netherlands, resulting in a team that was fully capable of taking on both functional as technical challenges with ease. The team was western oriented and successfully implement large and complex projects for high-level customers, like KPN (major Dutch telecommunications company), universities, schools for higher professional education, and university hospitals. German and American customers were also serviced successfully.Most original employees are still with us. Their long tenure is clear evidence of a pleasant and challenging working environment.

Tensor was one of the first companies in the Netherlands that applied artificial intelligence onto transport planning. Our solution resulted in a 20% reduction of trucks on the road for distribution companies, with an equal total volume transported.

Tours

This was a joint venture of the three largest haulage companies in France. Its aim was developing a tracking system for their trucks. One of these companies had to manage 6,000 trucks on a daily basis. It was clear that they needed efficient data for the optimal deployment of their fleet.

Paris Area, France

The British owner requested me to execute their reorganisation. This was due to my expertise as a transport planner, combined with my previous experience as chairman of a medium-size company. Position: Founder and General ManagerThis was a post-academic training institute I founded in response to a tight market. After a heavy preselection, students were trained to become industrial salesmen. The education was paid for by top-level companies like Unilever, Koninklijke Nederlandse Hoogovens en Staalfabrieken (aka Ijmuiden Steelworks), PTT (Dutch state-owned telephone and postage services), Compaq Computer Corporation, etc. Prefinancing was conducted by AlpInvest Partners (a global private-equity firm).

Delft

This was my first start-up company, founded in my attic, where I developed innovative ERP software for the larger of the medium-sized enterprises. Grote Beer (after Ursus Major, the constellation) was one of the first companies that developed and marketed standardized software for small-to-medium sized companies. The modest company of 1978 quickly grew into a company that needed further investments. AlpInvest and NPM were able and willing to comply. Grote Beer B.V. was bought by Exact Software in 1994, making them the largest software developer in the Netherlands.
