At HDG ꟾ The Fruit Consultants, I can apply my passion for quality of perishables in practical situations. I enjoy working closely with clients in the fruit and vegetable sector. It is very satisfying to be part of a dedicated team where we combine our extensive expertise and experience to defend the client interests. In addition, I keep myself informed of new knowledge and developments that are relevant to the sector.Post-harvest quality has always been a central theme in my education and professional career.First I worked as a project-leader and researcher at Wageningen University and Research on a broad range of topics in the horticultural chain. My interest in plant physiology and science resulted in my Ph.D. degree in Biology. My thesis was about the inhibition of ethylene biosynthesis in fruits by carbon dioxide.Subsequently I worked at the innovative company AgroFresh. I coordinated trials and gave technical support to the successful commercial applications of SmartFresh™ and EthylBloc™ in various countries. I developed practical advices to use 1-MCP for maintaining postharvest quality of fruits, vegetables and ornamentals.After that, back at Wageningen University and Research, I combined my expertises in my function as researcher/consultant to help companies via research and consultancy projects in many countries.Nowadays, my experience in both research and industry helps me to provide valuable support to the fruit and vegetable industry.
