I was a student intern on the Inter-University Technology Bundling Project (IUTBP). The IUTBP is sponsored by the National Science Foundation's (NSF) Partnerships for Innovation program. We worked to identify, characterize, and bundle complementary inventions and IP across 19 universities and research institutes in Southern California. I also authored a proposal for another project.Additional work was related to the ChinaBio® Partnering Forum 2009 (CBPF2009), the first life sciences partnering forum ever held in China. I also attended the ChinaBio® Executive Workshop 2009, and coached Chinese biotechnology entrepreneurs on business plan presentations in preparation for investor forums in China.

I participated in capstone academic team project as part of the Keck Graduate Institute Master of Bioscience program. I worked ~20 hours/week throughout the academic-year as part of a five student team. Chief technical writer: preparing project plans, progress reports, and status updates. I personally profiled customer segments in the synthetic biology and biofilms research communities and identified hurdles to progress in each field.

- Summer internship with The Werner Group. Activities and tasks varied, but all related to biotechnology and science policy in Washington DC: analyzed reports or proposed legislation and summarized the potential impacts, research projects to improve advocacy, investigated ethical controversies in the sciences and the public perception of research and commercial development. - Co-authored a paper with Michael Werner that argued that current stem cell based therapy development was subject to sufficient oversight and that further restrictions would only serve to delay patient access to new therapies.
