- Developed a light-weight interpolation algorithm to generate a digital elevation model from laser-scanned measurement datasets as part of the GEON project, which resulted a 100 times speedup compared to previous algorithms. The algorithm has been adopted by the GEON team, and has been incorporated in the GEON portal at http://portal.geongrid.org.- Jointly supervised by geo-scientists Prof. Ramon Arrowsmith at Arizona State University, computer scientist Dr. Chaitan Baru at the San Diego Super Computer Center, and Prof. Scott Baden.- Investigated the strength of the STI Cell processor architecture for scientific applications. Implemented a Poisson equation solver using the Jacobi method and an interpolation algorithm calculating vorticity from 3D computation fluid dynamics velocity data.- Studied performance and scalability issues both on a simulator and a PlayStation 3 machine.
