I am a Professor of Accounting at the University of Sussex Business School (part-time) and director of H2 Software Ltd, a software development company. I hold a Ph.D. in Business Management from Erasmus University Rotterdam. Before my academic career I worked at PwC in Amsterdam. My research focuses on AI and data analytics in accounting and auditing. Applications include accounting education, accounting for health care and water accounting.My publications have appeared in a range of journals including MIS Quarterly, Journal of Business Research, Decision Support Systems, British Accounting Review, Behavioral Research in Accounting, European Journal of Information Systems, and European Journal of Operations Research. According to Google Scholar, my work has been cited over 10,000 times.I am currently on the board of two Special Interest Groups at the British Accounting & Finance Association: Accounting Education (AE) and Accounting Information Systems and Emerging Technologies (AISET).I was previously Acting Head and Deputy Head of the University of Sussex Business School. In this role I was in charge of the School's EQUIS accreditation (the first major business school accreditation of the School), and I developed the School's workload allocation model, still in use today.I was until recently an external examiner for the accounting programs at the London School of Economics, and before that at Manchester Business School.
