Hans Wolbers (The Netherlands, 1965) studied applied arts and design at the University of Arts in Utrecht, The Netherlands. After finishing the study he founded Lava Amsterdam that soon became one of Holland's leading design agencies. As Creative Director, Hans Wolbers and his team focusses on creative strategy, editorial design, interactive design and dynamic identities. Lava has strong roots in editorial design and visual storytelling became the motto. As a result Wolbers was awarded Art Director of the Year in 2000.The combination of continuity and change that was logical within the field of editorial design lead to a unique vision on identity design: Dynamic Identities. Lava believes identities should be designed in such a way they are able to grow and develop along with an organisation.Among many others Wolbers work for clients like The Red Cross, The National Museum of History, Heineken, Dutch Television, Philips, Royal Dutch Airlines (KLM) and City of Amsterdam.In 2005 Wolbers published a book together with Reza Abedini on New Visual Culture of IranWolbers work with Lava has won numerous international awards and was exhibited in various countries. Also Wolbers regulary conducts workshops and lectures throughout Europe and in Russia, Taiwan, China, Indonesia and Iran. From 2002-2007 Wolbers was vice president of the dutch designers organisation BNO.In 2003 Wolbers was elected member of AGI (Alliance Graphique International); an organisation of 's worlds best designers.In 2008 Wolbers received a honorary doctorate at the Polytechnic University of Shenzhen, China.In 2010 Lava was awarded European Design Agency 2010.in 2011 Hans Wolbers co-founded the Moscow Design Museum, Russia's first museum dedicated to design.Early 2012 Wolbers gave a special talk in one of the worlds best design museums: Design Museum London.In 2012 Lava expanded its creative activities with opening a studio in Beijing and cooperations in Moscow, Istanbul and Seoul.
