The Equator Principles (EPs) is a risk management framework, adopted by financial institutions, for determining, assessing and managing environmental and social risk in projects. The EPs apply globally, to all industry sectors and to four financial products 1) Project Finance Advisory Services 2) Project Finance 3) Project-Related Corporate Loans and 4) Bridge Loans. The EP Association comprises 130+ Equator Principles Financial Institutions (EPFIs) worldwide who have adopted the EPs, covering the majority of international project debt within developed and emerging markets.I am one of the four members in the EP Association Secretariat who work to support the Equator Principles Association. My role is 1). Support EPFIs in Asia and Ocean, which is the biggest region in term of the number of EPFIs; 2). Facilitate EP Signatory process; and 3). Support the Capacity Building Working Group.

I represent CEC to 1.) build coalition in East Asia (China, Mongolia, North Korea, South Korea, and Japan) with relevant stakeholders from government, business sector, NGOs, and etc., 2.) to develop overall China strategy and business plan, and 3.) to manage CEC operation in China, including program development/implementation/supervision, in-country budget management, fundraising, and membership enhancement.Achievements: CEC member increased by 400% within three years; Two MOUs signed with China Environmental Education Center of Ministry of Environment and Beijing Forest Society. Two projects have started under the MOU framework of collaboration to train school teachers and volunteer teachers on nature education and overall capacity building. Raised USD150,000 worth of in-cash and in-kind funds for two CEC events.

Led a team at regional level to deliver WWF Asia Pacific Growth Strategy which aims to enhance fundraising capacity (on unstricted funds) of WWF offices in 20 countries (from Pakistan to New Zealand) by implementing marketing projects and providing capacity building trainings.Achievements: Coordinated a strategic review and institutional re-structuring for the next five years; Screened five projects from WWF country offices and approved four of them with financial KPIs; Smoothed office function which supported project implementation in the region.

Responsible for program/project development, event organization, and membership enhancement in the sub-region including Mongolia, China, North Korea, South Korea and Japan.Manage IUCN China office on a daily basis, including project development and implementation, fundraising, stakeholders relations, etc.Achievements: Developed the first donor database for IUCN Northeast Asia region; Successful coordination for Asia Conservation Forum which was held in South Korea in 2011; Progress made in forming formal relationship with South Korea and China;  Streamlined management in IUCN China office; Smooth project implementation on watershed management and livelihood enhancement in China with continued support from a donor from business sector.

Mangroves for the Future (MFF) is a regional multi-partner program with a goal of promoting coastal forest rehabilitation in reaction to the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami. MFF is co-initiated and supported by six organizations, namely CARE, FAO, IUCN, UNDP, UNEP and Wetlands International with IUCN hosts the Regional Secretariat, and covers 15 countries in Asia and Africa. Responsibilities: Acted as the focal point at the regional secretariat to coordinate with different stakeholders in program countries, six partner organizations, four donor agencies and dozens of grantees; Involved in overall strategic planning for the program (finance and activities) as well as managed program/project finance at regional level; Reviewed country programs performances and provided backup support and capacity building training to National Coordinators and grantees; Developed project guidance and managed Small Project Facility (SGF) and Large Projects Facility (LPF) at regional level – a project portfolio of 80+ small projects and 10 large projects using result-based management; Played a leading role in conducting project monitoring, learning and evaluation; Planed and organized Regional Steering Committee meetings twice a year and other regional events at least three times a year; Assisted the Coordinator on day-to-day running of the regional Secretariat, including staffing, procurement, budget planning, internal coordination, etc.;Achievements: Developed a project portfolio of nearly 100 projects within two years with a Small Grant system which fits in management and in different implementation agencies in all MFF focal countries;  Involved in the setting up of the project monitoring, learning and evaluation system with indicators, which ensured the smooth implementation of the Program in 15 countries in Asia and Africa;  As one of the key team members, contributed to the success of MFF Phase one which won continuous support of the main donors (NORAD and SIDA).

Main responsibilities included implementation of environmental projects, overseeing the promotion of environmental awareness, fundraising, cooperation with international agencies and NGOs, media communications. Have participated in the organization of more than 20 projects and programs including:1. Led “Green Future” project in collaboration with General Mobile Shanghai Co. Ltd. The project rewarded energy-saving designs/concepts and promoted energy efficiency throughout China, 2007-2008;2. Responsible for media campaigns for the most prominent environmental award in China -- China Environment Award, a collaboration with Baosteel Group Corporation, Shanghai, 2004-2008;3. Independently developed proposal and raised funds from CitiBank (China) Co. Ltd. for Green Aid Project, which combined natural conservation with poverty alleviation in west part of China (also in charge of the project implementation), 2005-2008;4. Independently raised funds from the Great Britain-China Center and the Prince of Charles Business Leader’s Forum to organize Sino-British Seminar on Responsible Business Practices, 1999;5. Organized Water Treatment Technologies Symposium and Exhibition with USEPA and USDA, 1999;6. Involved in the development of China Environmental Volunteers System and the organization of series of volunteers' activities, such as tree-planting, 1998-2000;7. Co-organized the first national survey on public environmental awareness in China, 1996.Achievements: Raised over US$ 1 million for environmental projects which benefited mostly poor people in rural areas;  Made CEPF the first environmental NGO in China that ever been granted Consultative Status by the United Nations Economic and Social Council (UN ECOSOC); Contributed to the first national survey on public environmental awareness, which resulted greatly in influencing government policies on environmental education.

Responsibilities: Organized and delivered three week-long training programs for lawyers, NGO managers, Environmental Protection Bureau officials, and industrial managers from different cities in China. Achievements: Contributed to the introduction of a different training model in China, which influenced decision-making process among different stakeholders - to certain extent, it improved environmental governance in major cities in China.

SEPA, the former Ministry of Environment, is the leading government department to be responsible for the overall environmental protection and resources conservation in China.Responsibilities: Organized the annual Tripartite Environment Minister Meetings among China, South Korea and Japan on various environmental issues; Drafted bilateral environmental agreements.Achievements: Contributed national policy formulation with regard to sand storm and deforestation; Contributed the development of bilateral policies with Nordic countries.(Note: My work contract was still with China Environmental Protection Foundation）

Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Conservation Committee of the NPC is the legislative body for China's environmental laws and regulations.Responsibilities: Coordinated dialogues between the NPC of China and Congresses/Parliaments in other countries to learn/exchange experience on environmental laws and regulations development. Achievements: Contributed to the development process which led to the drafting of three environmental laws and regulations.(Note: My work contract was still with China Environmental Protection Foundation）
