Managed a small team of product infrastructure responsible for developer productivity, production system reliability and scalability

I am a staff software engineer at Calm. I worked on product side backend services in my year 1 at Calm. In year 2, I led a brand new team of engineers and created the Calm B2B integration API while supporting B2B sales and onboarding with a partner portal. At the end of year 2, I started work as a team lead for a new product infrastructure team, working on platform reliability and scalability, developer productivity, and security.

I was the team lead for the platform team at Helix. My team owned and delivered microservices in Golang that was the core of the Helix software architecture. I ran our team sprint and helped to improve our efficiency. I worked with the DevOps team to create terraformed re-usable pub/sub componets with SNS/SQS/Lambda to speed up the development of features that require pub/sub architecture.

I worked on multiple Golang services as well as front-end React/redux web applications for user sample registration.

Backend distributed service development using JAVA, neo4j, on top of AWS and delivered alpha prototype. Implemented prediction engines using Amazon Machine Learning service.

Joining Practice Fusion in Seattle was a dream come true. I am working on something I truly believe in: build great software to improve how doctors and patients manage health information.

I worked in a team that was responsible for monitoring and alerting on gray failure in the Amazon Web Services network. The product that we worked on uses a machine learning algorithm called Stochastic Gradient Descent. Aside from general engineering operational responsibilities, I worked on a coverage metric project which reported on how well the system was able to detect gray failures of the network. This provided insights to gaps in the network that we failed to monitor and poor quality on alarms that we did monitor.

Bringing my academic background in biomedical informatics together with my experience in data integration, I am working on the development of Cancer Biospecimen Repository and Virtual Biospecimen Discovery System.

Short term contract project developing a web-based ROI simulation application. The goal of the web based application was to help Impinj industry partners in apparel industry predict the return on investment for using a RFID based inventory system. I developed an interactive web-based interface for visualizing simulation results using JAVA, JSP, AJAX (JQuery), Google Chart, HTML, CSS, and Tomcat. I worked on a number of data integration projects with three that stood out the most: 1) A data integration application for several large military databases. 2) Development of an integration toolkit that manage, automate and facilitate data integration projects. 3) Publications with one on cloud computing for biomedical informatics that received much attention.

Develop integrated and automated Teranode experiment management solutions for University of Washington Center of Expression Array. Duties include gathering user requirements, requirement analysis, and solution customization.

Designed and developed a web-based information management application to manage case presentation and images, which enabled virtual tumor conferences to take place between physicians from University of Washington Medical Center and Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. Application implemented using PHP and MySQL database.
