As Engineering Manager, I am helping to create an environment where developers regularly share ideas, learn from each other, and provide innovative solutions to problems. I provide guidance and support for developers as needed. This involves looking at our current and future technology stacks and identifying areas of development that would benefit both our people and the future strategic direction of Macmillan. The continued migration to Sitecore, including upgrading to version 10, and the adoption of a microservices based architecture, is increasingly helping to alleviate some of the work that we take on to support legacy applications and infrastructure. I have a strong commitment to continuous improvement. I am a strong advocate for following good development practices, through adherence to agile working principles, the adoption of Gitflow across our products, following coding standards, and in producing solution designs and diagrams. I regularly contribute to decisions around provisioning of Azure resources, set up CI/CD DevOps pipelines and help to deliver non-functional improvements (for example around resiliency, site performance, SEO, and accessibility).I believe the stream of work into our development teams should come from the bottom-up as well as from the top-down. My ambition is to help our development team to identify areas for improvement and for some of these to be prioritised into our workstream. As Senior Web Developer or Senior Digital Developer, I have played a key role in Macmillan's transition from our legacy estate to more modern .NET web development platforms and infrastructure. Worked a total of 4 weeks for the BBC. Work included research for TV programs such as “Watchdog”, “Brassed Off Britain”, “Stress Test” and “Fat Nation”. Answered daily correspondence, helped out on film shoots and played a part in organising the live finale of “Brassed Off Britain” on BBC1.
