Management of a team of 10, responsible for all Forensic related training and development. The unit delivered an average of 120, 3 to 6 day, courses per year, to both internal and external key stakeholders. The role was pivotal in championing the importance of forensics training. I maintained strong academic partnerships with Curtin and Murdoch Universities, the Judiciary and national training bodies.Core Outcomes:• Bachelor of Science Program – Creation of a four Forensic discipline specific training program, replacing an existing single stream tertiary academic program through the Curtin University.• Established Training Guidelines – Aligned with the National Education and Training Guidelines, the Australasian Forensic Field Sciences Accreditation Board and the Australian and New Zealand Police Advisory Agency.

Iraq

Employed by the British Foreign Commonwealth Office and the US Department of Defence as a Police Advisor and Trainer instructing, assessing and mentoring members of the Iraqi National Police Service and Iraqi Police Service in various aspects of policing.Key Outcomes: • Successfully managed all aspects of inclusive training, consideration to the students’ levels of literacy, background, cultural and political beliefs• Delivered training sessions to non-English-speaking policemen and officers, with the assistance of interpreters, all conducted in a constantly changing and hostile environment• Built and gained the trust and rapport with the students and local workers• Gave examples of various policing techniques adopted by the WAPOL and the positive outcomes that were being achieved, thereby planting a seed and showing the students that there were reasonable and workable alternatives to the current procedures they were expected to follow. • Empowered each student some ownership and belief that they could truly make a difference to the future of their country and the generations of Iraqis’ to come• Cultivated enthusiasm to learn and a genuine desire to increase their personal and professional development• Worked in an unpredictable environment and remained exceptionally flexible and adaptable as situations arose.
