As Public Relations Coordinator for the University of South Carolina’s Health Sciences Division, I help tell the stories of the important research being conducted by faculty and how it improves lives throughout the state and beyond.I collaborate with academic units at the School of Medicine Columbia, the School of Medicine Greenville, the College of Nursing, the College of Pharmacy, the Arnold School of Public Health, the College of Social Work and the College of Engineering and Computing.In my role, I:- Write news features and stories about their research and teaching and achievements- Pitch story ideas to news media of TV stations, radio, newspapers, websites and podcasts- Create faculty expert lists for topics- Identify promotional opportunities- Monitor our faculty for media appearances- Coordinate faculty media training and media relations training

I coordinate messaging for EMpanel Online and its affiliated entities of BizPinion, SurValidate, The Commissioned Art Network and VulcheX.

I supported a fully-staffed team of communications specialists by writing email newsletters, e-blasts and website content that benefitted the students and faculty of the University of South Carolina’s world-renowned school of business.

I helped South Carolina's CPAs thrive by telling their stories, online and in print. My mission was to keep SCACPA's members updated on all the Association’s advocacy and education initiatives and to make sure they are getting the industry, legislative and best-practices news they need.

Provided copy editing and fact checking for daily e-mail subscription newsletters targeted at leading trade associations and professional societies.

I was among the inaugural roster for PwC’s Deliverable Excellence Center, a group intended to help turn consulting presentations into stories that resonated with audiences.

I taught a section of Writing for Mass Media.

I coordinated with state agencies their compliance with federal hazard mitigation guidelines to prepare their reactions to natural and man-made disasters. Helped monitor disaster relief during active emergencies.

Crafted material for internal and external communication while FEMA maintained a Joint Field Office in the Columbia area in the wake of historic flooding. Oversaw production of assessment reports for use by South Carolina officials and agencies.

Weekly "Sports Guesspert" sports and pop culture humor columnist, recognized with writing awards in categories for humor and criticism by S.C. Press Association.Researched and reported stories for print editions, website and specialty publications.Played key role in consolidating teams of News and Sports Production Desks.Provided versatility for daily newspaper operations with roles as editor, page designer, columnist and reporter.In charge of directing coverage and content of daily and Sunday editions. Ensured news coverage priorities and professional standards for reporters and photographers.Sports section was annually recognized as among nation’s top 10 for Daily, Sunday and Special Sections.
