Part of the initial team assembled to set-up and successfully launch a new Australia international long-haul airline (branded as Vaustralia at launch). My primary responsibilities included managing and completing activities and tasks required to deliver a quality stable IFE system and in- cabin products to meet an aggressive launch timeline.Achievements:• Managed and delivered an award-winning IFE system for Vaustralia (before being rebranded to Virgin Australia), within timeline and budget, WAEA 2009 – Winner of Avion Award for “Best Overall IFE (Small airline)” | WAEA 2010 (APEX) – Winner of Passenger Choice Award for “Best Overall IFE (Small airline)” and “Best IFE User Interface”.• Involved in taking delivery of Vaustralia’s B777-300ER from Boeing.• Developed a solid understanding of all aspects of the IFE industry, including hardware infrastructure, software, communications and content.• Developed a good working relationship with all involved; secured quality support from vendors; recognised and respected by colleagues internal and external for good working etiquette and strong product knowledge.• Led definition of an innovative solution for Virgin Australia’s new A330, together with regional/domestic B737 IFE and inflight connectivity solutions.

Overall responsibility for managing the implementation of a replacement Airline Passenger Sales and Management system for Virgin Blue (before being rebranded to Virgin Australia). The assignment included assembling the required team and implementing project management disciplines to support a project of this scale and importance, with clear success factors and KPI’s defined.Achievements:• Successfully grew and managed project team of 100+, bringing onboard the required team members and skills (sourced internally and externally) to support the project, including necessary infrastructure.• Maintained a project office to manage, monitor and update the project plan, budget, issues, risks and regular meetings and reporting to stakeholders and steering group.• Led contract negotiations together with external counsel.• Managed relationships with external developers based in India and US.

The Applications Manager role included managing an internal development team and external contractors supporting inhouse and enterprise systems, and the Project Manager role was to manage the multiple IT projects, mainly education and mainstream enterprise systems including Oracle Peoplesoft at Lincoln University.

Successfully led and completed numerous IT and non-IT related projects of various sizes and complexity. Had the opportunity to work with almost every department in the airline and systems, providing an excellent overview and understanding of the airline business and industry. Implemented project management discipline and oversight of various project teams. Role also included managing an in-house development team and external contractors supporting core in-house enterprise and airline systems.

Part of a compact IT development and support team in wholesale grocery industry, responsible for developing and maintaining a wholesale grocery system. The scope included, front end sales, invoicing, debtors, creditors, general ledger, warehousing, inventory, product sales analysis and interfaces to external devices. Role included systems and database administration.
