I am an Associate Professor of GIS/Geology/Natural Resources/Environment in the Schools of Natural Resources/Geo-environmental Sciences at Lake Superior State University. I graduated with my Ph.D. in Geosciences, focusing on geospatial applications and hydrologic modeling from Florida International University. At LSSU, I primarily teach GIS/Geology/Natural Resources/and Environmental Science courses. I have taught classes ranging from Introductory level (Introduction to GIS, Meteorology/Climatology, Great Lakes Geology, Environmental Science) and Intermediate levels (Intermediate GIS, Geospatial Analysis) to more advanced levels (GIS Programming and Applications, Remote Sensing and Spatial Statistics, Senior Seminars, Hydrologic/Hydrogeologic System, Geochemical System, Geo-environmental Systems, and Environmental Chemistry) in the Geospatial Technology, Geology/Environmental Science, and Natural Resources programs. I advise students in Natural Resources, GIS, and Geo-environmental Science programs and primarily mentor students' research projects in these areas that all field, lab, and GIS/remote sensing techniques. Before joining LSSU, I worked as a Water Resources Lecturer at the State University of New York College at Oneonta (2015-2017) teaching Introduction to Hydrogeology, Geochemistry of Natural Waters, Watershed Management, Geospatial Hydrology, Applied Hydrogeology, and Groundwater Modeling. My primary field of research is water. My current research revolves around the water quality of surface and subsurface water bodies including small-inland lakes and near-surface aquifers. We examine both geochemically and anthropogenically released contaminants in water by combining field, lab, and remote sensing/GIS approaches. Spatial modeling of terrestrial and aquatic wildlife habitats in the Great Lakes region is my other focus to help support undergraduate research in natural resource areas. Landsat, MODIS, WorldView-3, Sentinel-2, Radar, Radiosonde, Lidar, DEM, and Aerial photographs constitute the principal type of remote sensing data I use. I have studied land use/land cover change and associated watershed and hydrologic processes: land-surface-atmosphere exchange of water and energy, urban heat island, watershed-scale soil erosion, and sediment transport processes in my previous research. I enthusiastically look forward to collaborating in research that delves into the challenges of natural resource/environmental sustainability, landscape dynamics, and micro-climatic alteration.
