In 1996, Hari Polansky formed a company called Accounting Systems to assist growing companies with the transition from manual to electronic accounting systems such as QuickBooks and Peachtree. After installing accounting systems at diverse range of companies, the business evolved to meet growing IT demands across all parts of the business and the result was the formation of Boston PC Networking. By expanding the breadth of services, it allowed Hari to leverage his experiences in designing the backbone infrastructure of an interactive retail operation (Food Calls, Inc.). This undertaking involved the development of an online catalog, order system, distribution, customer service, and inventory management. Food Calls was an early player in breaking through the online shopping model. As businesses became more reliant on accounting systems – it was clear that the rest of the functions would need to be automated. Hari saw a gap in the market for providing guidance to companies frustrated with the upgrade to technology based environments. He also saw a need for planning and education – anticipating that changes would become the norm. His vision is to enable and empower customers to take charge of their technology and make it work for them – rather than be slaves to their machines. Hari has gone a long way toward achieving this goal.
