I have been working as an associate professor of anthropology at the Department of Sociology/Anthropology, Patan Multiple Campus, Tribhuvan University. I have more than two decades of teaching, research, and consulting experiences in the fields of ethnography, social management & safeguard, project induced resettlement, socioeconomic impact studies, peace and conflict research, social development, public consultation, grievance management, and social survey. I have accomplished more than fifty social researches and consulting assignments for GOs, (I) NGOs, UN, WB focusing on the poor, Dalits, women, indigenous people and other marginalized people. I have working experiences in Nepal, India and Bhutan. I am a social anthropologist specialized in development anthropology--social analysis of development projects. I worked as Social Safeguards Expert for more than 15 years in appraisal, design, planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation/impact assessment of projects and programs; Experience in formulating policies relating to environmental and social safeguards; Experience of conducting environmental and social impact assessments and preparation of environment and social management plan ( ESMP) including Resettlement Plans and Indigenous People Plan (IPP); Experience in Implementation of ESMP, IPP and resettlement plans; Experience in conducting awareness seminars, capacity building trainings to clients on project specific safeguard requirements, particularly for screening of (sub) project proposal, social assessment and design appropriate safeguard measures. Hari possesses experience and expertise in dealing with environmental and social management principles of bilateral and multilateral agencies like the World Bank, IFC, ADB, and UN and excellent ability to prepare reports and documents. I am one of the pioneer assessors/auditors for FSC forest certification for sustainable forest management in Nepal.
