In support of the Standards Council of Canada National Mirror Committee to International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) Technical Committee (TC) 113 for nanotechnology electrotechnical products. TC 113 develops product standards in the area of nano-enabled PV, graphene, nanocarbon materials, lithium ion batteries, luminescent nanoparticles for lighting, nanoelectronics, nanomanufacturing. The Chair represents Canada in international delegation.

My role focused on the start-up, execution and completion of major projects in the Renewable Energy Sector. The key objective of these projects was to build regional R&D Capacity in Emerging Technologies for a Carbon-Constrained Economy. I provided leadership to the College Community by engaging students and faculties to work in partnership with Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SME).

My activities in this position included:1. Identification of University inventions of commercial potential2. Facilitation in the process of of Invention disclosures, IP protection, industry liaison, Technology evaluation3. Negotiation of IP clauses in collaborative research contracts, Confidentiality and Material Transfer Agreements 4. Identifying key partnership for Industry- Academic research5. Interaction with funding agencies, regional innovation centers and academia 6. Facilitation in internal and external R&D contract procedures7. Outreach on IP awareness and skills4. Licensing5. Internal and External Marketing, Liaison with patent firms, funding sources6. IP Training and consultation to faculties and students

To provide an integrated service to R&D and Innovation needs of Technology based companies to achieve growth in New Product Development (Advanced Materials, Polymers and Compounds, Dielectrics and Insulation, Cable Materials), product testing and Standards, Quality procedures and audit reviews, Intellectual Property Tools and Portfolio Management and Scientific Research Tax Credit. Some of the projects included:• Evaluation of High Pressure polymerization technology to manufacture polyethylene, identify opportunities for global plant expansions and new research • Analysis of Canadian electrical utility market opportunities for polymeric compound for corrosion protection of high voltage cable joints• Recommendations on engineering steps to implement a new technology platform (high speed extrusion coating of glass fibers) • Conduct a workshop on Polymer Insulation to the Wire and Cable Industry• Recommendations for technology pathways for nanocomposites R&D projects In addition to my Technical Specialist role, I have provided Service, Advisory and Coordinate roles in the following business units supporting Product Development and Management: Sales and Marketing Manufacturing Product Approvals Standards DevelopmentOther activities include: Coaching non-specialists on specialized technical information, training individuals or groups and to chair technical workshops.

To manage and develop new polymer insulation and conductive compounds for energy cable sector, to support and grow products based on a licensed-in technology, and to contribute to the corporate polymer technology developmentIn this position, I have:• Developed new product and technology portfolio to support a Plastics business unit serving Wire and Cable market with sales 25-30 M$• Managed a product development group ($300,000) and operating budgets ($250,000)• Served as Technology member for commissioning new plastics compounds manufacturing site in the US – Extra Clean insulation compounds for utility cable market• Established and implemented ISO 9001 procedures• Served as Quality Internal Auditor and served in the Malcolm Baldridge Assessment team• Served as Management representative for SR&ED, Quality, Safety and Hazop committees• Improved product approval and release by establishing quality test procedures for the manufactured Wire and Cable compounds• Improved customer complaint process working in partnership with manufacturing, technical and sales teams • Coordinated with customers, University researchers and funding organizations for collaborative product development projects on cable compounds, testing and development• Presented several technical and business presentations to the electrical industry audience• Provided support for Technology transfer activities during Licensing and Divestment• Authored patents and technical publications
