The main objective of the WG is to deliver knowledge materials and tools that support governments and private stakeholders in their ambitions for advancing a sustainable roll out of electric mobility – with a focus on charging infrastructure, power system integration and the re-use of batteries.

Providing advisory services on Energy Storage and Off-Grid Energy needs. Past and on-going projects include:-Production of a market review report on second-life battery use from electric vehicles to other applications for a project commissioned by the Global Battery Alliance and the World Economic Forum.- Delivery of content for a white paper on current challenges and opportunities for lithium ion batteries in the off-grid market.- Identifying electric mobility needs for the sub-Saharan market.- Technical expert for a project exploring battery leasing for low income customers in Senegal.- Designing battery cell and pack manufacturing auditing tools and quality control protocols for aninternational hardware manufacturer.- Delivering battery deep dive and market landscape presentations to clients.- Completing a due diligence review of a grid and off-grid battery system and software provider onbehalf of a Nordic investment fund.

Functions are:-Building battery manufacturing auditing tools for lithium ion battery supplier assessment. Improved internal quality control processes for lithium ion battery procurement and monitoring.-Collaborating with the Engineering and Operations teams on battery sizing, long term testing, fault analysis and shipping/storage conditions- Lithium ion battery factory audits and reporting.-Working with M-KOPA’s Health and Safety officer on improving safety in Engineering test facilities and lithium ion battery handling.-Grant proposal writing and identifying energy storage related R&D projects valuable for the business. Secured and managed multiple projects funded by different UK government and other funding streams (projects totalling in excess of £1M).-Managing partnerships with funders, industrial and academic partners. Communicating M-KOPA’s research to the wider industry
