I am a person of inherent paradoxes. Never studied Hindi in life, but relish Gulzaar. Grew up in then-Hindu-nation Nepal, and turned out an agnostic. A Marwari by birth, yet a novice at making money ;-)But doing the unexpected has been my signature. Went straight into business after coveted IIM degree. Plunged into garment business for ironically flimsy reason of dad's ultimatum to ‘start something in 6 months or join tea plantations’. Apparel was a quick factory to set up, even in a city I knew not a soul in.That zeal to experiment has not left me. Within the traditional and somewhat boring apparel industry, I have tried stuff - some stars, some duds. School uniforms in a branded off-the-shelf format. Schools loved it. The auditors didn't. A customer threw challenge of mass production of custom shirts, and I stood in a tailoring shop and learnt how to take measurements. This turned out a smashing success and Customique became the outsourcing destination for custom shirts, for clients round the globe - from Brisbane to Zurich, Reykjavik to Toronto. Pandemic saw us sign an exclusive global licence for a technologically advanced mask developed by scientists at CeNS, a Govt. of India DST lab. The result was a stylish and awesomely comfortable mask "3bO the Deltoid Face Mask". Now on to the emergent D2C space, with a unique lifestyle brand titled "Slowave", which intends to make your life comfortable with a range of clothing (to start with) you would be happy to live in.Ordinary does not satisfy me. Every time things settle down, I look for the next no-comfort-zone. One of them close to my heart is the alumni of my alma mater, IIMB. This made me organize the first ever global IIMB Leadership Summit - IIMBue 2015. Which "Times of India" called the mother of all summits! Taking up the leadership of IIMBAA made me take another step in the the quest to do new, and made me steer the birth of an unprecedented IIMB Alumni Club at Taj Westend Bangalore, which is already the toast of the IIMB community :)A perfectionist at heart, I plan even my holidays with precision and gusto. From finding Arequipa in Peru to see condors fly, to driving a Hummer all around Iceland's moon-like landscapes, I will go far if it tickles my fancy.
