Providing limited scope legal assistance to pro se litigants

Examines objections, requests for appeal and/or assessment, requests for fairness reviews, makes decisions that will confirm, vacate, or vary the notice of objection, request for appeal or notice of assessment.Conducts interviews with taxpayers and/or their representatives, responds to information requests from internal and external clients.Researches and interprets the provisions of applicable legislation and regulations, policies, directives, and jurisprudence.Produces detailed reports, letters, and other documents.Cooperates with representatives of the Department of Justice in the conduct of cases before the courts and testifies before the Tax Court of Canada (TCC) on behalf of the Minister as required.

Providing explanations and/or clarification to clients over the telephone in response to enquiries concerning the filing and processing of Individual Tax ReturnsExplaining various social programs administered by the CRAGathers information from taxpayers to establish the precise nature of their enquiry or requestResearches possible responses or solutions using a variety of internal and external information sourcesTechniques and practices used to operate various computer applications and systems required to enter information, research, analyze and resolve questions or problems and requests raised by taxpayers, including payment reconciliation
