As a Senior Software Engineer, I am actively involved in designing and developing tools that allow users to migrate multi-terabyte databases to Timescale Cloud. This contributes directly to the company's revenue.Timescale generates revenue by providing users with access to its cloud infrastructure hosting TimescaleDB, a time-series database built on PostgreSQL. As a database company, database migrations are essential as it impacts the revenue.Understanding the strategic importance of a seamless database migration experience with minimal impact on the existing production (source) database, we are actively developing Live-migration, a database migration utility that leverages PostgreSQL's logical decoding protocol. This tool facilitates a safe and reliable migration process for users with either PostgreSQL or on-premises TimescaleDB deployments, minimizing downtime on the production database. I played a leading role in developing Promscale, Timescale's unified observability suite. It's a SQL-powered open-source solution for storing both Prometheus metrics and OpenTelemetry traces on PostgreSQL/TimescaleDB.Before Promscale, managing business and observability data was a juggling act. Users needed separate databases:- Relational database (like PostgreSQL): for core business data.- Prometheus tsdb: for DevOps and business-related metrics.- Another database (like Jaeger, Elasticsearch): for tracing data.Promscale unifies this fragmented landscape into a single, SQL-powered solution. This allows users to seamlessly query and join business data with metrics and tracing information.As a key engineer on the Promscale project, I played a critical role in:- Researching and developing production-grade features to unlock efficient analytical queries. Promscale's success relied on several key features I developed. These features empowered users to perform "across use-case" queries, a capability unavailable in competing products due to their fragmented storage of metrics and traces.- Expanding functionality. I actively added new features meet newer requirements from our users and to keep Promscale up-to-date with latest advancements in Prometheus community.- Optimizing performance. Developing Promql rules and expressions formatter/prettifier from scratch and enhancing the YACC generated language parser, performance improvements in tsdb, promtool, features addition. I have been a contributor for almost 11 months to the Prometheus project where my contributions include from time-series database to promtool and promql enhancements, adding new features to the project.

During my internship, I contributed to the product platform's expansion by developing new features using Django for the backend and Angular for the frontend. I also implemented a CI/CD pipeline on Heroku and successfully migrated the entire platform to Google Kubernetes Engine. I designed an automated process that creates a Kubernetes namespace for developers in the company, triggered by a pipeline and configurable with environment variables. These namespaces provided an isolated testing environment exclusive to a developer. Furthermore, I play a key role in the company's DevOps efforts, managing Kubernetes deployments and monitoring them with Prometheus and Grafana.

As part of my Google Summer of Code Intern at Australian Open Source Software Innovation and Education, I was involved intensively in the development of web extension APIs, developing visualizations based on user activities, porting extensions for Firefox and Edge browsers, setting up end-to-end testing, playing with docker images and containers.I have been involved in making various web APIs and simultaneously using of web speech, chromium APIs as well, improving the performance and utility, adding critical core components in the project. As part of being a summer intern at BMF technologies, I was required to collaborate in the development of food delivery infrastructure from scratch using NodeJS and AngularJS. The aim was similar to that of zomato, swiggy. I had successfully developed and implemented various microservices as a REST model for critical modules like feedback, assigning tasks to the nearest delivery boy, campaigning, groceries etc. I have also spent a significant duration in the development of mobile application using React Native and integrating the same with the above-mentioned microservices. My mentors were well impressed with my part of work and invited me for a second term of internship in BMF technologies.
