During the last three years of my tenure, I developed a k-12 Autism Program and served as the lead teacher. Primarily taught in the secondary environments and focused on developing student engagement in their personal advocacy and post-secondary needs. Prior to this, I taught in the Kelley Program, a private placement program for students with emotional disabilities (EDP). In this program, the primary focus was centered on teaching the students key behavioral and social emotional skills and strategies in order to help them return to a less restrictive environment.

During my tenure in Mesa Public Schools, I taught at Carson Junior High School, Power Middle School, and SHARP School. At Carson, I served as a resource teacher to students with specific learning disabilities and other similar disabilities. At Power, I served as a resource teacher to students who had been referred to this separate school for significant behavioral challenges and/or singular behavioral events that required an alternative to suspension avenue. SHARP School is a day school alternative program for students with mild to severe intellectual disabilities, emotional disabilities and/or autism that have been referred to the school due to severe behavioral concerns; I taught in the self-contained classroom for students with severe Autism for two years while at SHARP. I also served as SHARP School’s technology liaison for one year, as well as the PLC lead for my cohort.
