As technical support manager I'm responsible for all aquaculture projects within Primstar and other companies within the Cornelis Vrolijk Group. Specifically at Primstar, I help the local Indian/Nigerian management to run their shrimp farm with technical and biological support, including quality control, technical/biological farm updates and biosecurity advice. Urchinomics harvests sea urchins of low economic value from the wild and bulks them up for the high-end seafood market. By targeting these sea urchins the hope is to help restore the oceans kelp forests that have slowly disappeared in various countries due to circumstances, like overfishing, pollution and climate change. As global operations director, my role involves implementing the various joint venture opportunities Urchinomics is developing around the world. As a project manager for AF&F I'm responsible for the planning, staffing, implementation, control and evaluation of the different projects. The different projects I work for are concerning: wastewater treatment with algae, bio-reffining and valorization of the different components, "survival of the fattest" with TUD, implementation of new harvesting and drying techniques and construction of new algae photo bioreactor installations. The work provides a good division between theoretical and practical implementation.

As Farm Manager I am responsible for the full tract from fingerling (1 gram) until harvest (2.5 kilo’s). This includes managing weekly operations as grading, harvesting and more specific maintenance of the system and production improvement. To maintain optimal production a good understanding of growth modeling, system hydraulics, fish physiology and water quality parameters is necessary. Because of the complexity of the systems and density of the fish (up to 130 kg/m³) 24 hour shifts are necessary to respond quickly to unwanted changes and possible threats.
