During my lifetime, research and science have stood out to me in meaningful ways. I have always been intrigued by the curiosity and determination one must have to be in the research field. One must be strong willed and able to rise up to the challenge in such a dedicated field. When the opportunity came about to work in the Human Protections Office side of the research field, I quickly jumped on the chance to do so. My strongest asset has always been my ability to build and maintain relationships and provide customer service. I’ve developed a strong relationship with Doctors, Residents, Pharmacists, Lab Managers, Nurses, and other dedicated scientists within our Healthcare Organization. My role is not only to provide guidance in regards to federal regulations, policies, and IRB submissions, but to provide them with an outstanding relationship where trust and collaboration is needed in such a field.When it comes to building these relationships, I always refer to a quote by Suzy Kassem: ‘Treat your relationship as if you are growing the most beautiful sacred flower. Keep watering it, tend to the roots, and always make sure the petals are full of color and are never curling. Once you neglect your plant, it will die, as will your relationship.’ By following this guidance when managing relationships with our researchers and their respective personnel and collogues, I’ve been able to not only improve our department satisfaction, but also our customer service relationships within our organization Since 2020, our active protocols have increased substantially, showing a 30-40% average month to month growth. We have implemented new strategies to provide lines of communication when it comes to review updates, training updates, and various stages of communication throughout the submission. We have provided more educational opportunities for researchers, sub-investigators, coordinators, and other research staff as well.Some of my Current Projects: - Research Tracking Sheets looking at studies and statistical data related to approvals, submissions, and other IRB Items.- Overhaul of website to reflect updated documents, forms, and procedures, as well as organization layouts- Financial tracking within the department concerning review fees, invoices, budgeting and other related financial information Future Projects-IRB Educational Outreach Programs -IRB Resident Education Program I am always eager to hear from both jobseekers and employers, so feel free to get in touch with me to discuss job openings or recruitment solutions.
