About Harmony Melchizedek

I am a Science/Biology teacher for 7 years. Over the course of my teaching career, I have worked at 5 schools (Two of which are my training schools) and have adapted quickly and fully into the culture and systems of every school efficiently. I have experience of all British curriculum examination boards both UK and internationally. My strength lies in my ability to challenge traditional methods of teaching and learning through the application of innovation and creativity; developing vital links with the wider community through trips, visits and external speakers. Enabling independent challenge by means of critical thinking; inspiring students to question how, why and what we learn in the form of Socratic teaching methods embedded in diverse and stimulating units of work. Experienced in the IB and British curriculum, I ensure students are immersed in an array of learning styles and opportunities. Taking learning outside of the classroom and engaging students in holistic activities aimed at developing their academic, social and creativity skills. Such activities include leading the ECA Steam club and organising the department Science fair.Habitually, implementing a range of effective differentiation and intervention strategies to support the attainment and progress of all students. Acute awareness of the individual needs of students and continued provision of appropriate assessment for learning strategies focused on specific groups (EAL, SEN, G&T).Additionally, understanding the importance of efficient data use to inform teaching and learning practices, ensuring that our students achieve exemplary progress and attainment. Possessing familiarity with the rigorous and purposeful use of data such as summative and formative assessments, QLA and GL tests to identify students in need of intervention (differentiation, challenge, EAL). Collaboration of all stakeholders is fundamental for an excellent learning experience. I endeavour to provide various modes of communication validated by trust and transparency, welcoming all to partake in the celebration of our students and their successes. Cognisant of this, the wellbeing of my students is priority: utilising data, observation and curriculum planning to enhance their social, mental and physical wellbeing.
