The purpose of the Greater Victoria Afghanistan Memorial Project (GVAMP) Society is to create a memorial to honour the 163 Canadians who gave their lives and the over 40,000 who served in Afghanistan to help provide a better future for the children of that country. Despite the memorial's dedication in Victoria, BC on 30 September 2017, it will be dedicated for the service and sacrifice of all who served, the fallen and their families, including those who returned with mental and physical wounds form the Afghanistan War. The Equitas Society is a fund raising society formed by concerned citizens to raise awareness of the reduced disability benefits of the New Veterans Charter and to raise funds to pay disbursement costs of the disabled veterans (representative plaintiffs) being represented in a class action lawsuit pro bono by a senior legal team from Miller Thompson. http://equitassociety.ca/mission
