Created and implemented strategic plans to ensure alignment and department preparedness for long-term global innovation programs. Led Analytical, Microbiology, R&I Pilot plant and Safety (EHS) on the critical path of product development and innovation as a member of the U.S. R&I leadership and global core technical teams. ▪ Assessed protocols and data supporting acquired OTC brands, initiated necessary steps for adherence to internal protocols to maintain launch plans for brands like IT Cosmetics and CeraVe▪ Initiated prospective research activity for each team, resulting in representation as finalist in L’Oréal’s annual technology awards program 3 out of the last 4 years. ▪ Mobilized cross functional team to provided critical information, maintaining aggressive launch plans for first entries into POS customization for skin and make up.

Directed L′Oréal Institute for Ethnic Hair and Skin Research including: a team of 15 conducting research in biology, chemistry, physics, and consumer insights. Served as African American consumer segment SME; counseling global applied research, product development, and marketing teams. ▪ Converted research program from knowledge to technology development, generating 2 patent applications, 4 publications, 6 presentations, and technical dossiers for various category product lines.▪ Restructured annual budget to finance Synchrotron X-ray tomography project with University of California, discussion groups with dermatology KOLs and consumer studies with external consumer insights companies.

Directed a 6-person team conducting research projects on the effects of chemical treatments on hair, skin and proposing technology concepts for consumers as part of L’Oréal’s international advanced research. Presented findings at national scientific meetings and brand-specific media events▪ Spearheaded acquisition of a cutting-edge, $600k environmental scanning electron microscope (ESEM) in partnership with Argonne National Labs and FEI, designing novel accessories enabling new material characterizations for primary global projects.

Built a chemistry research program and team of 3 to enhance hair / skin product knowledge used to improve treatments. Cultivated strategic partnerships with global advanced research teams to eliminate redundancies and develop synergistic research programs.
