Foothills Academy was established in 1979 with the dual purposes of: offering a fulltime educational and treatment School Program for students with learning disabilities; and providing the greater community, a Community Services component consisting of assistance to professionals and parents as well as research, tutoring in-service, lectures and the publishing of materials relevant to the learning disabled child. As Board Chair I lead the governing body of the society. I am accountable to the Board of Governors and have the role of leading the Board in establishing effective governance processes and practices. First as Council Member then, starting in 2010, Mayor of a community located on Burnstick Lake in central western Alberta. As Mayor, accountable for ensuring tranparent and effective processes and decision-making in the public interest, and promoting good relationships within the Village and with other communities. Provide IT-related services with a focus on: ● strategic planning and turning strategy into action, ● implementing cloud services, ● practical and achievable information management, ● using IT service management to drive down costs and improve service levels, and ● using innovation to drive measuable business value.

Accountable for a complex evolving portfolio of IT services to support a diverse set of business needs across the organization. Developed and led a 300+ person organization with a budget in excess of $100M in support of infrastructure and services for one of the world’s largest pipeline and energy companies. Some key accountabilities and deliverables included: ● developed a corporate portal that won Nielsen Norman Group’s “Top 10 Intranets” for 2016,● deployed an enterprise email management solution to reduce retained email by 75%, ● improved IT service levels resulting in a 50% reduction of IT-related pipeline downtime● implemented cloud services across the organization, and● implemented service management initiatives to improve services and reduce risk/cost.

Responsible for strategic planning and enterprise architecture services for an IT organization supporting one of the world's largest pipeline and energy companies. The major achievement in this role was the provision of the vision, leadership and change management to transformation the organization from a loosely federated IT organization to an integrated service-oriented organization.

Accountable for the provision of IT services for a large, complex and highly distributed community of over 30,000 people. ● implemented a highly-successful enterprise Business Intelligence and Analytics system, ● transformed Finance, HR and Student systems from mainframe to ERP,● implemented one of the first Canadian campus-wide wireless networking services, and● introduced and deployed an IT shared services model across entire campus, transforming a fragmented distributed IT model to a federated integrated IT using improved IT governance and a shared service model for key services.

Teaching and research in the application of information technology to business issues. A focus on Service Management, IT Strategic Planning, and Telecommunications.

Developed and led multi-functional teams in the provision of IT services in support of teaching, learning and research for the university community. Guided campus technology investments for campus-wide research computing services, classroom services and teaching/learning services. Some major accomplishments included:● created a campus-wide IT Service desk based on IT Service Management approaches,● developed and led a multi-disciplined research computing services team,● implemented a new learning management system that increased use of service from 15% to 100% of university credit courses, and● partnered with the University Library leadership to envision and implement a highly successful and innovative Information Commons to revitalize the Library and transform undergraduate learning services.
