The Songwriters Hall of Fame Master Sessions at Stuyvesant High School is an educational initiative geared toward providing information and encouragement by example to aspiring young songwriters from all 5-Boroughs. Panels consist of songwriters, publishers and music business professionals who speak about their craft and profession in front of an audience of students from Stuyvesant as well as other NYC high schools. A segment of the Session involves a few preselected students who play one of their songs for a critique from the panel. The Songwriters of Tomorrow Scholarship is awarded to a high school senior attending a New York City public school, demonstrating the talent and desire to learn the craft of songwriting. The student is chosen based on an original song (lyrics and music), and the scholarship extends an opportunity to pursue a career in music. The Songwriters Hall of Fame celebrates songwriters, educates the public with regard to their achievements, and produces a spectrum of professional programs devoted to the development of new songwriting talent through workshops, showcases, scholarships and SHOF/DOE Master Sessions. West Coast educational activities are held at The GRAMMY Museum, which hosts the permanent Songwriters Hall of Fame Gallery, and at the University of Southern California.
