I am a researcher and designer of intervention programs in human rights, media reforms, access to information, and data protection. My work focuses on building coalitions between community groups, media, and civil society to drive change across social, political, and economic spheres at local, national, and regional levels. Recent contributions include: - Leading and mentoring media and civil society change agents on media self-regulation and democracy in East and Southern Africa (under Niras/Fojo/IMS). - Spearheading the Information for Democracy campaign in preparation for the 2024 general elections in 8 African countries. - Investigating the intersection of access to information and governance in Africa. - Mapping media and civil society coalitions across Sub-Saharan Africa. - Developing mechanisms to sustain media reforms and self-regulation through coalitions in Ethiopia. - Researching coalitions in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe as drivers of democratic reforms. - Establishing a fund for public interest journalism in Sierra Leone and a media support framework for sustainable news media in Kenya.
