I have always bounced around between being a nurse, a veterinarian, a pediatric doctor, a nurseanesthetist, and a dentist. Though these ideas intrigued me since they were all hands-on, they never felt like the right option. In 9th grade after tearing my ACL, both my meniscuses, and slight tears in my LCL andMCL I had to work with a physical therapist for several months after surgery which reallyintrigued my passion into physical therapy. After that experience I knew I would want totake medical classes at school, so I took some like sports medicine, intro to physicaltherapy, and medical anatomy. All of which piqued my interest even more in physicaltherapy, but I didn’t feel 100% certain of my decision yet. I started taking child educationclasses at my school in 10th grade and have kept taking them every year. These classeshave allowed me to have hands-on experience with children in our childcare center andlearn how to care for them. This led me to investigate taking a route into pediatricphysical therapy, allowing me to become a physical therapist and have the hands-onmedical route but also allowing me to work with children!Currently, as an intern at Fit Quest where I have also previously shadowed, I amgaining hands-on experience and learning from licensed physical therapists. Being ableto intern and shadow at Fit Quest has helped me learn more in depth about injuries, rehabilitation process, therapeutic modalities, and patient c are. Since I had alreadylearned a lot about this in sports medicine it has really helped to not only learn it in aclassroom but also being able to see it live in action and practice what I have learned. My goal is to become a pediatric physical therapist who can help children overcomephysical challenges and to grow up with a better way of living. Since I have grown alove with helping children and learning more about them in my childcare classes I hope Ican put that care into my work as a physical therapist.Choosing this path makes the most sense to me because I want to work in the medicalfield, work with children, and help people have a better way of living! After going throughmy high school years taking child education classes and health science classes as wellas interning at a physical therapy office, it is clear to me that this is the correct careerpath for me!
