The Outdoor Experience Coordinator is responsible for the staffing, operations, materials and programming for the Children’s Museum’s outdoor spaces, including Joy Park, Adventure Forest, the CornerCopia Garden, and Snow Days. Those spaces integrate diverse forms of outdoor and nature play for children and adults to engage in physical challenge, movement, risk-taking and perseverance, as well as visual art exploration. The Outdoor Experience Coordinator works with a team to deliver the Museum’s mission by developing and implementing experiences that address outdoor play equity and proactively engage diverse audiences to connect to the Denver community.

Serves the diverse community of families at the Children's Museum by providing a welcoming environment in the museum's exhibit spaces, and engaging with children and adults to champion the joy and wonder of childhood through unstructured, child-led, and authentic experiences of play, creativity, and exploration. As a Lead Associate, provides mentorship and support for the wider Museum Associate team in the Education Department and maintains open communication with other departments to create a seamless and enjoyable guest experience. An average day at the museum includes guiding guests through creative experiences in the Art Studio and managing clay purchases, preparing food and demonstrating recipes in the Teaching Kitchen, playing with children in our rockets or bubbles exhibits, sanitizing and maintaining exhibits spaces, facilitating programing on the museum floor or filming a live program for the wider museum community, encouraging COVID safe behavior from guests, encouraging hands on connections with nature in our park, and welcoming guests as they explore our outdoor aerial exhibit Adventure Forest. Develops and facilitates digital (social media posts and live video) and in-person programming for early learners and K-12 children, including storytimes, arts education, and STEM outreach.Additional responsibilities include maintaining some of the the biological aspects of the museum's exhibits, including the freshwater aquarium, the vegetable garden compost, and the the hydroponics station.

Research on the impact of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors on stalk eyed fly serotonin brain levels, accessory glands, and aggressive behavior. Focus on the impact of ecologically relevant environmental contaminants, pharmaceuticals and endocrine disrupting chemicals on insect sexual physiology and behavior.Funded in part by a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship. Teaching Assistant for General Biology 1 (BIOL 2071) for two labs per semester for three semesters.

Orie Shafer lab. Studies on circadian rhythms and clock neurons in the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster using anatomical, genetic, and live-imaging techniques. I care for and monitor 1000+ fly stocks, prepare fly food, perform genetic crosses, organize and order supplies, help maintain lab safety and compliance with local and national regulations, prepare reagents, assist graduate students, monitor and train undergraduate assistants, maintain and update the laboratory group's website, and do lab upkeep.

Work lead by Dr. Laura Sirot. Matings, dissections and ELISAs on Drosophila melanogaster. Help in a collaboration between College of Wooster and Binghamton University on the effects of atrazine on Drosophila melanogaster. Mentor and oversee an undergraduate assistant. Partially funded by National Institutes of Health R15 grant to Anthony Fiumera.
