About Harper Clayson
In my decade of working I have consistently returned to the worlds of education and history; they are two deep-seated passions of mine and drive all of my career goals and a lot of my past-times. I was able to fully express my love of learning at the University of Liverpool, and, during my degree, held four jobs within the university: Ask Me Helper, History Student Ambassador, Irish Studies Course Representative and I took part in the Undergraduate Research Scheme. During this time I also worked hospitality whenever visiting family back in London, and took summer jobs such as at a children’s science and discovery centre. After graduating with a First Class (with Honours) History BA in 2022, I worked as a Learning Support Assistant within the SEN Department of St. Margaret’s CofE Academy, a secondary school in Liverpool. I immediately found my groove working within the educational sector: the fast-paced atmosphere, high-pressure and caring nature of the job suited my skills perfectly. In January 2024, I decided on a foray into the heritage sector, potentially looking focusing on community and school engagement. I truly loved the opportunity of working as a Historic Properties Steward and one of the Venue Hire Team Leaders at Kenwood House, especially considering my passion for Robert Adam, the 18th-century neoclassical architect who redesigned the house. However, I missed the education sector and knew I had to return. I plan to work a few years in support roles before taking on my teacher training (in history, of course).
