Based on advanced training in Mindful Self-Compassions, she specializes in helping individuals improve compassionate self-acceptance, strengthen self-worth, manage fear and shame, and develop mindfulness. For families, she specializes in correcting child and teen behavioral problems by focusing on creating a stronger emotional bond between parent and child. Harper has completed an externship in Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFCT), as well as additional advanced training and supervision in EFCT. She is certified in Self-Compassion in Psychotherapy and has trained in Mindful Self-Compassion with Kristin Neff, PhD, and Christopher Germer, PhD. Harper is a contributing author to the bestseller "The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump: 27 Psychiatrists and Mental Health Experts Assess a President," (2017, Thomas Dunne) and author of the award-winning book “Pack Leader Psychology,” which combines simple ideas from the animal world, such as the “fight-or-flight” response, with the latest in social psychology and neuroscience to explain human behavior and relationships. Harper graduated from Michigan State University and earned a master’s degree in clinical psychology from the Michigan School of Professional Psychology following a career in corporate marketing communications. She is a speaker and trainer on topics such as relationships, narcissistic/coercive relationships, and mindful self-compassion. She serves on the Michigan Board of Psychology.
