I consider myself an old computer geek with pretty decent social skills. I started with computers when I was eight (or maybe nine, not pretty sure really) years old in the 80s. Back then, a friend of mine had a beautiful Sinclair CZ1000 with 1K of RAM. We enjoyed playing very simple games on a black & white TV.Since then, I have always been involved in computer-related stuff. I coded a couple of games for Commoder 64. I ran a BBS in the 90s for almost 3 years (CYBERIA BBS). I helped to create the Local LINUX user group at the beginning of the century (LUGMen). Some of the mailing list archives are still online.Now and for the last 15 years, I have been involved in Applied Statistical Learning research. I’m the current Head of the Laboratory of Intelligent systems (LABSIN) at the School of Engineering at the University of Cuyo in Mendoza Argentina. I enjoy tackling interesting problems with with a mix of code and statistical learning solutions.
