As an aspiring Educational Psychologist with a passion for supporting individuals with special educational needs (SEN), I bring a diverse background in psychology, education, and hands-on experience working with children in various settings.My journey began with volunteering as a swimming instructor for young people with learning and physical disabilities, where I honed my communication skills and learned the importance of adapting teaching methods to individual needs. Subsequently, I transitioned into roles within the hospitality industry, where I developed a strong customer service ethic and the ability to thrive in fast-paced environments.However, it was during my time as an Assistant SEN Applied Behavioural Analysis Teaching Support Therapist that I discovered my true passion for Educational Psychology. Working closely with a 13-year-old boy with autism, global developmental delay, and hyperlexia, I provided tailored 1:1 support both academically and behaviorally, collaborating with parents, teachers, and therapists to implement individualised learning plans. This experience not only deepened my understanding of neurodiversity but also highlighted the profound impact that targeted intervention and support can have on a young individual's development.In addition to my practical experience, I have recently completed my undergraduate studies in Psychology at the University of Manchester, obtaining a 1st. My dedication to continuous learning and professional development drives me to explore new opportunities and expand my skill set, with a particular interest in Educational Psychology and its potential to empower individuals.I am committed to leveraging my skills, knowledge, and experiences to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young individuals, advocating for inclusivity, accessibility, and equitable opportunities in education. I am eager to connect with like-minded professionals, and contribute to the ongoing conversation surrounding neurodiversity and inclusive education.
