Do you need help getting media coverage for your work or organisation? Do you want to developa strong media strategy and build relationships with journalists working in your field? Do youhave a report to launch? A policy proposal to push? A spokesperson in need of media training? Many organisations don’t have dedicated in-house media expertise but need short-term supportto garner the quality and breadth of coverage their work deserves. That’s where I can help.I have 15 years’ experience in media relations for large and small NGOs working on humanrights, immigration, international development, climate and legal issues. I specialise in media relations to influence policy development and public opinion. I advise on media strategy and approaches, crisis comms and messaging, and also provide media training for spokespeople. I have a wide network of UK and international media contacts in broadcast, print and online. I ran the press office at the Law Society, setting the media strategy and coaching the president and policy experts for media interviews with the likes of the BBC (Newsnight, Today programme), Channel 4 News, Sky, the Today programme and local and international radio. I developed stories that made the front pages of the Financial Times, the Guardian, Times and tabloids. I’ve ghost-written opinion pieces for outlets like CNN, the FT and and statements for twitter/X and TikTok, some of which went viral (in a good way) and helped drive change. Previously I worked for Free Tibet, ensuring the human rights crisis in that country was headline news around the world: a highlight was persuading Archbishop Tutu to co-write an opinion piece in the Times. I also managed communications for the wonderful international development charity Book Aid.I work collaboratively and strategically, listening carefully to what’s needed and creating effective communication that builds bridges in the media from you to your most valued audiences. Ever alert to opportunities, I navigate confidently in complex, fast-paced environments and am adept at managing reputation and crises. I’m valued for my integrity and sound judgement.Mine is a boutique service for a small number of clients, many of whom become long term - others just need a short-term boost. Whatever we do together, I will help you further your objectives to reach the wide audiences your work deserves.
