Within the college I was responsible for the day to day running of the commercial aspect of the training restaurant working with lecturers, instructors, senior management and students to fulfil the tasks of the restaurant service. Preparing for events and overseeing the operations on a commercial aspect. I also line managed a range of apprentices employed by the college to learn and earn in the college, liaising with employers and completing their assessment goals. I was responsible for assessing apprenticeships in the work place as part of the Work Based Learning team assessing students in hospitality qualifications at levels 2 and 3 for kitchen and front of house. Working closely with employers to ensure their training needs are met and qualifications are assessed correctly. I was responsible for developing resources for all qualifications and delivering classroom learning on front of house NVQs. I attended and delivered presentations at industry focus groups including food festivals demonstrating cooking skills. I completed a 4 month classroom lecturing role for Functional Skills English with groups across sectors within the college for students ranging from Entry Level 2 – Level 2 at the end of their programs. I was also responsible for 4 groups of full time students as an IQA in Professional Cookery, Food and Beverage, Customer Service Level 2 and 3. I led two SV visits and achieved direct claims for all WBL qualifications as a result including technical certificates. As an IQA I hosted standardisations and also completed full development plans with instructors and assessors, sample plans and certification.

Hospitality as a specialism I assessed chefs and front of house learners, as well as those in customer service, business admin and management roles at level 2 and 3. I also assessed Key Skills in Communication and Application of Number at levels 1 and 2. I was involved in OFSTED inspections, planning and implementing my inspection day. I regularly attended standardisation meetings to unsure my knowledge was updated and to work with others to develop new ideas to aid assessment.
