'The "I'M Tired" Project'

London And Brighton

Not content with the level of representation of young, ambitious women that we were seeing in print and online publications, a university peer, Paula Akpan, and I began The “I’m Tired” Project. Through the use of social media channels, photography and a customised ‘story’ we aim to highlight the discrimination and microaggressions that take place in everyday life. The Project has now been featured in numerous magazines from The New York Times, Huffington Post, to Teen Vogue, Buzzfeed and even appeared on the cover of the American Journal of Public Health. Glamour Magazine has named us as one of the Top Fifty Instagram Power Players. We have also received recognition from a number of public figures, including Tracee Ellis-Ross, Solange Knowles, Natalie Bennett and David Cameron. We now take the project into schools, youth programmes, universities, and companies to teach anti-bullying and anti-discrimination. We have also exhibited our work in New York, USA; Nottingham and Exeter, UK; and soon London, UK and Nairobi, Kenya since being awarded funding by the International Artists Development Fund. Upon our trip to New York, we received the Points of Light Award from former Prime Minister, David Cameron, for services to our community. The “I’m Tired” Project has led me to learn multiple transferable skills, as well as giving me experiences not common to many 23 year olds. I have experience organising large-scale photoshoots; editing and writing copy; photographing and editing pictures; experience in giving interviews and dealing with the press; organising both large and small exhibitions and workshops; as well as creative direction, business development and developing international networks including photographers, educators and curators.www.facebook.com/theimtiredproject
